I've never taken yoga before. What can I expect from a class?

During your yoga class you will learn poses that will build strength, develop flexibility and balance and instill calm. You will also enjoy deep breathing and relaxation in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Modification for poses are offered to make them easier or challenge you more depending on your level of flexibility.

What are some of the benefits of yoga?

A yoga class can strengthen your heart and lung capacity, increase your energy and improve digestion and circulation. Yoga can also improve your concentration, promote a calmer mind and help you better manage stress and tension.
 

What do I need to bring to class?

Simply bring a yoga mat or large towel. Wear comfortable clothing and don't eat at least 2 hours before class.

What level class should I begin with?

That depends on how much yoga you have done in the past and how flexible you are right now. If you are familiar with yoga poses and breathwork, you may want to do the advanced class. If you are new to yoga, start with the beginner class. You can always move between the beginning and advanced classes.

How long have you been a yoga teacher?

I received my 200 hour yoga teacher certification from the Midwest Academy of Healing Arts in 2003. I took my first yoga class in 1978!

Who are your typical students? 

Having taught yoga to people from ages 4-86 has shown me that no student is typical! People of all ages, abilities and flexibility levels can do yoga.
