Groups contain a particular kind of power that I hold dear. As a former educator and camp counselor, I have been facilitating groups for many decades. I am trained to treat groups as living systems, following the Matrixworks Group Facilitation Model developed by Mukara Meredith.
The following are my current group offerings.
DBT Skills Lite
This is a weekly group for people who would benefit from learning DBT skills. (I have yet to meet someone who would not benefit from these skills!)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, is a set of common sense skills designed to make life worth living and to interrupt habits that lead to suffering. The group consists of three 8-week segments, each devoted to one of the following topics: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness (i.e. people skills), and Distress Tolerance (i.e. how to deal with not getting your way). This group does not provide a formal DBT program. A requirement of this group is to be in individual therapy. This group is for people ages 18 and up. For maximum benefit, take all three sessions. Minimum commitment is for one session.
Session 1: Mindfulness and Emotion Regulation
Session 2: Mindfulness and Interpersonal Effectiveness (i.e. people skills)
Session 3: Mindfulness and Distress Tolerance (i.e. how to deal with not getting your way)
